Comparisons

Comparisons are a common strategy to showcase the benefits of our products.

There are two types of comparison images: split image (shot-for-shot or standard) comparison and side-by-side (same shot, or end result) comparison.

  • The desired effect is presented on the right side

  • Always include pop-up texts for clarity

  • Split comparison images are divided by a vertical line

  • Side-by-side comparison images do not need to be separated by a line

  • Remember that different camera angles are possible to highlight the difference

In special use cases when we compare 3 items, we can split the image into 3 equal parts. All other rules still apply.

This chapter is divided into two section - Comparison principles for images and Comparison principles for video.

Comparisons in images

images

Dividing line

  • The line is white colour but can be Electrolux blue on bright backgrounds

  • Line thickness is the width of the image divided by 420, rounded to the nearest even number (i.e. for a 4678px wide image, the line thickness is 12px)

Pop-up text

  • Pop-up text are located either at the top or on the bottom of the image

  • Pop-up texts can also be connected to their respective part of the image with a tagline

  • Size of the pop-up text is the width of the image divided by 36, rounded to the nearest number, in px

  • Typeface is Electrolux Sans Semibold

  • Pop-up texts should have preferably the same form and length, i.e. if one says "with AbsoluteCare", the other should say "with traditional", not just "traditional"

  • If this is not possible (e.g. one text is one line and the other two lines), align both vertically to their optical center (see image on the right)

Icons

  • Icons should be white

  • Icons should be scaled to roughly 1/5 of the width of the image

  • Depending on the context and composition, size of the icon can be adjusted

Crops

  • Make sure all OST and OSG are within the square crop area. Read more about image crops in Technical requirements

Comparisons in video

video

Videos take a slightly different approach to comparison shots:

Dividing line

  • The line is white colour but can be Electrolux blue on bright backgrounds

  • Line thickness is 8px

  • The dividing line fades out towards the bottom and top of the shot over the distance of 100px

  • The line should be fully transparent when it meets the top of the shot and the top of the copy

  • This can be achieved by giving the line a mask that ends 100px above the copy and 100px below the top of the shot, and has a feather of 100px

Pop-up text

  • Pop-up text does not need to be connected with taglines

  • Pop-up text should be horizontally centered to the left/right half of the image

  • Pop-up text is ~350px from the top border and is the same size as the copy (70px)

  • Pop-up texts should have preferably the same form and length, i.e. if one says "with AbsoluteCare", the other should say "with traditional", not just "traditional"

  • If this is not possible (e.g. one text is one line and the other two lines), align both vertically to their optical center (see the image on the right)

Icons

  • If accompanied by an icon, the icon should be 230px wide, one line away from text, and horizontally centered to its respective half of the image

  • For icon thickness and design, please follow Icon guidelines

  • In case of a two-line pop-up text and an icon, you can move all elements slightly up to prevent them from being too close to the copy
